The range of services that live in the cloud are broad but are typically divided into three types: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (Paas), and Software as a Service (SaaS).
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
IaaS uses the cloud to host applications that we manage. The most well-known advantages of IaaS are metered use and the availability of instant scalability. Metered use is paying only for what you use down to the minute. Instant scalability means if more computing power is needed it is readily available and when it is no longer needed it can be removed immediately. Learn more about IaaS

Platform as a Service (PaaS)
PaaS is a middle ground between IaaS and SaaS. PaaS provides a platform that allows technical teams to develop, run, and manage applications without the complexity of building and maintaining the infrastructure typically associated with developing and launching an app. Learn more about PaaS

Software as a Service (SaaS)
We all use SaaS whether we realize it or not, logging into BearBuy or Google Suite (bMail, bCal, Drive) are good examples. SaaS essentially refers to purchasing access to applications that are owned and managed by a vendor, are hosted in the cloud, and accessed by users with web-based technology such as a browser or smartphone app. Learn more about SaaS
