Announcing Our IT Action Plan

March 25, 2014

A message from Larry Conrad, AVC-IT & CIO

Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to introduce the new Campus IT Action Plan website that outlines many of the strategic initiatives we are undertaking across campus to solve real problems for our faculty, staff, and students to further the mission of the University. This action plan has been developed as the result of a wide-ranging set of interviews with campus leaders and discussion within the IT Leadership Group (ITLG), many of whom you will see featured on the site describing their role in “reimagining IT” at UC Berkeley.

This is a journey we are embarking on together, and we have already made great progress on several fronts, including the SIS replacement project that is moving forward, the launch of CalCentral, the new Berkeley Research Computing Program, and many other projects that are underway in response to campus priorities addressed in the IT Action Plan. The action plan is not meant to be an exhaustive list of everything that we are working on, but rather reflects a set of priorities that I’ve established based on the input I’ve received from across campus. I am keenly aware of the many critical projects you are working on that are not represented here, but are equally important to our success in serving the IT needs of the campus.

I invite you to tell us how you envision IT, share the work you are doing to support the goals outlined in the action plan or a project you feel proud to be involved with. To understand more about this plan and how it relates to the work you do each day, I expect you will hear more from ITLG members and your direct leadership. Please review the site and let us know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions.
