IT Change Freeze in Support of Instruction: Monday, Aug. 15 through Friday, Aug. 26

July 21, 2022

IT Colleagues and Campus Partners,

As we prepare to ramp up technical support for instruction at the beginning of fall semester, we are implementing our customary IT change freeze on production changes for UC Berkeley systems. This freeze enables us to provide optimal IT service and systems performance for our campus and minimize potential disruptions during this peak period of activity when our services are in greater demand.

A change freeze is also a period of pause for SIS development. Our technical teams hold off implementing system improvements and fixes for system stability.

Change Freeze Dates

The Fall 2022 change freeze begins on Monday, Aug. 15, at 12 a.m. and ends on Friday, Aug. 26, at 5 p.m.

IT Change Freeze Exception Process

If there is a situation that requires a change to the affected systems identified above during the Change Freeze, IT service owners must request exceptional approval through the IT Change Advisory Board. If you become aware of an exceptional system change but are unsure about which service owner to contact, call IT Client Services (ITCS) at (510) 664-9000, option 1 for help. When notified of exceptional change requests, service owners will seek executive approval for the exception through the IT Change Advisory Board.

As always, you can refer to IT System Status for the most up-to-date information. Thank you for helping us ensure that we provide the best IT services to students and the campus community as we start the academic year.

Kind regards,

Jenn Stringer, Associate Vice Chancellor for IT and Chief Information Officer
