Status of BFS and Related Systems

Dear Campus Community,

Earlier this week, we announced that the Berkeley Financial System (BFS) and other ancillary systems that interact with BFS had been taken offline as we investigate a potential security risk to a portion of the system. At this point, we have made good progress toward understanding the scope of the issue. Our IT teams have been working around the clock to bring BFS and related systems back online, but still have several outstanding questions to address. We are happy to report BAIRS, Cal Answers, and Cal Planning, which were previously unavailable, are all now back online.

As we continue to diligently approach this situation with a high level of caution and move through the necessary steps of the process, we realize more time is needed to finalize our investigation and analyze the results. Therefore, BFS will remain offline until Monday, January 11, 2016, at the earliest.

We recognize BFS touches many systems used by staff and faculty. Impacted systems and workarounds can be found on the System Status page. We understand the significant effect this is having on daily campus activities and we appreciate your patience as we work through this difficult issue.
