To our campus community,
We are writing to provide an update regarding the status of Wi-Fi on campus. We have made good progress and are optimistic as we zero in on resolving the issue. Our next step is to restart the campus Wi-Fi system. In order to maintain system health, the Infrastructure Services and Telecommunications team will be restarting the system after 10 p.m. tonight (Thursday, Sept. 2). This work may cause some disruption to Wi-Fi connections but the impact should be limited and brief. The timing of this restart was selected after evaluating class schedules and Wi-Fi utilization metrics on campus, to minimize the disruption to instruction and student groups.
When will Wi-Fi be working properly again?
The mitigations we have put in place have dramatically improved the performance of the Wi-Fi network, and should maintain the stability of the Wi-Fi network while the fix is being developed by the vendor. We will continue to closely monitor the situation. Updates will continue to be posted to our System Status page.
What can I do?
If you experience Wi-Fi problems, please submit a ticket with our IT service desk so they can assist you. Your tickets will help us better understand the impact of the problems and to improve our troubleshooting efforts.
Thank you for your continued patience as we work to resolve this issue.
