Rockin live music performed by their own in-house band set the tone as 340 IT professionals gathered from across campus at CSS IT headquarters on 4th Street, Tuesday, March 3, 2015. The One IT initiative is dedicated to building community among IT employees and this event truly encapsulated that spirit.
Jerry Yerardi, Director of CSS IT welcomed the crowd and highlighted the latest milestone of his team launching the ServiceNow platform as "One System for Service." Peggy Huston, Chief Operating Officer, CSS and Larry Conrad, Associate Vice Chancellor for IT and Chief Information Officer also shared opening remarks:
“I like to think about One IT as being about building community among IT professionals on campus, regardless of what organization you are from, and improving IT services coordination,” said Conrad. “This means being flexible, collaborating in new ways and with new people, with the goal of building a culture where responsibility for problem solving doesn’t lie with ‘me,’ or ‘you,’ or ‘them,’ but with ‘us.’ I think this notion is what makes the collaboration between CSS IT and IST so important, and successful. It’s how we demonstrate the strategic and operational value of IT to the campus. Technologies change, people change, how we collaborate changes, but the importance of building strong cross-campus relationships never changes.”
CSS IT was able to showcase its contributions to the campus and the superb work their staff accomplishes each day while everyone enjoyed games, a vendor fair, food, and the band! Over the past year, One IT has co-sponsored six events with a variety of campus partners such as Berkeley Law IT, Educational Technology Services, the IT Leadership Group and the IT Managers Forum.
"It was a great show of support from campus IT staff. The One IT message is getting stronger with each event." — Barinder Flanagan, Deputy Director - CSS IT
"Seeing our planning efforts directly transpire into increased employee engagement was one of those rare moments in which I could feel the One IT vision awaken. People were immersed in the activities and they had fun." — Tanya Leigh Jansen, Technical Training and Communications - CSS IT, CSS IT Open House planning lead and One IT committee member.
