Reimagining IT:Ted Talk-Like Tech Updates ReIT will host Ted Talk-style sessions from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. to provide updates on various tactics that are currently in progress in support of the strategies and goals of our strategic plan. Here's the speaker line up:
Introduction to Restorative Justice in the Workplace This introductory workshop will open dialog about new trends in responding to workplace conflict and bias cases through Restorative Justice. Participants will consider how alternative processes offer people who have directly or indirectly experienced conflict or harm a way to express their needs, develop strategies for repairing harm and envision structural change. Tell Me Game Teams are more effective and engaged when there is trust between members. Authentic conversation can build trust. Tell Me...is a card game designed to invite authentic conversation by facilitating: connection with each other by attentatively listening to group members talk about meaningful or light topics; connection with yourself by mindfully sensing your body, senses, and breath as you listen and speak. Created by one of our own Cal Bears, Kelly Werner, a clinical psychologist who received her Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD degrees here at UC Berkeley. For more information visit: Tell Me... Panel: Student Voice This is an opportunity to hear directly from a panel of UC Berkeley students on their technology experiences. A group of students will provide insights to the IT community on their needs, thoughts, and opinions on using or supporting different technologies, methods and tools. Get Ready to Be Secure! Get Ready to bSecure! "The bSecure project is a joint initiative from the Network Operations & Services (NOS) and Information Security & Policy (ISP) teams. The mission of the bSecure project is to replace aging Campus firewall and VPN technologies, and offer additional threat prevention and enhanced security services on Campus networks. Data Center migration to the new Palo Alto Networks firewall service is well underway, with campus firewalls and VPN services to follow this summer and fall. In this session, we’ll offer a live tour of the bSecure firewall management interface (“Panorama”) and demonstrate the “next generation” features that will protect your systems from today’s advanced security threats. Enrollment Working Group - A Collaboration to Improve Enrollment at UC Berkeley The Enrollment Working Group (EWG) is a collaborative effort between the Council of Undergraduate Deans (CUD), Office of the Registrar (OR), Student Information Systems (SIS), and SMEs from campus units. Members of the EWG were asked to evaluate the enrollment experience at UC Berkeley, identify critical service improvements, plan/coordinate system updates, and engage our user community (e.g., students, instructors, and staff). Panel: Women in IT A panel of women leaders in IT at all levels of the UC organization will answer facilitated questions on their real life experiences with gender in the workplace and offer insights on ways to create broader environmental change. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions as well.
