We are excited to announce that the newly redesigned Berkeley IT website is now live!
Our goal for this project was to create a digital presence that is user-focused, action-oriented, and simplified. This wasn't just a visual facelift; we completely overhauled the site’s architecture to ensure our campus community can quickly find the information they need.
Key Highlights
- Streamlined Content: We have significantly reduced the site's footprint to improve navigability. The previous site consisted of 2,855 pages, whereas the new site is a lean 138 pages of high-value content.
- A Dedicated Staff Intranet: That’s right, we actually launched two websites! To improve the experience for both the campus community and our internal Berkeley IT team, we have moved staff-specific resources to a separate intranet. This allows the main site to focus on information about our organization while giving staff a dedicated space for internal tools. Note: The new site requires CalNet authentication and is only viewable by Berkeley IT staff.
- Improved Quality & Accessibility: The Berkeley IT website was part of the pilot group built on the new Berkeley Web Builder, which integrates the updated UC Berkeley brand. By removing outdated content and dead links, we expect to see a significant increase in our SiteImprove score. Furthermore, the new site has accessibility features built in to ensure we continue to meet standards.
