Updated Network Blocking Procedures

Updated Network Access Blocking procedures now grant the CISO expanded authority for faster responses to critical threats. Network blocking will follow clearer timelines based on industry-standard vulnerability scoring. Please review these changes and ensure your Security Contacts are up to date.

Heads up: Duo Mobile Update Impacting Access Feb. 2

As of Feb. 2, 2026, Duo Mobile versions older than 4.85 are unsupported and may block CalNet access. The ISO is contacting affected users directly, so IT staff only need to assist with incoming questions. No other proactive action is required at this time.

Campus Tech Support During Winter Holidays

UC Berkeley IT will have reduced staffing Dec. 22–Jan. 2, with critical systems remaining available. Non‑urgent requests may take longer, and normal operations resume Jan. 5. Updates are posted on the System Status page.

An AWS outage disrupted BearBuy and bCourses on Oct. 20. Services are back online, but may still have issues. Updates will be shared on the System Status page.

Windows 10 End-of-Life Oct. 14: Next Steps

Support for Microsoft Windows 10 ends Oct. 14. Upgrade to Windows 11 or run version 22H2 to receive Berkeley IT’s Extended Security Update. Upgrade now. Technical support is available if needed. After Oct. 14, unsupported Windows 10 devices may be blocked under campus security policies.
