Campus Tech Support During Winter Holidays
UC Berkeley IT will have reduced staffing Dec. 22–Jan. 2, with critical systems remaining available. Non‑urgent requests may take longer, and normal operations resume Jan. 5. Updates are posted on the System Status page.
Status of bCourses & BearBuy Outages
An AWS outage disrupted BearBuy and bCourses on Oct. 20. Services are back online, but may still have issues. Updates will be shared on the System Status page.
Windows 10 End-of-Life Oct. 14: Next Steps
Support for Microsoft Windows 10 ends Oct. 14. Upgrade to Windows 11 or run version 22H2 to receive Berkeley IT’s Extended Security Update. Upgrade now. Technical support is available if needed. After Oct. 14, unsupported Windows 10 devices may be blocked under campus security policies.
Annual Campus Copyright Reminder
UC Berkeley urges compliance with copyright laws, warning that illegal file sharing can lead to severe penalties. Guidance and resources are available in the Campus Plan and on the security website.
Preventing Scams and Phishing in Google Calendar
Beware of phishing via fake Google Calendar invites with urgent titles and malicious links. Be cautious of unexpected invites, even those appearing to come from @berkeley.edu addresses, and avoid clicking links or calling numbers. Report suspicious events as spam before deletion.
