Technology Strategy & Partnerships

The Director of Strategic Initiatives, in partnership with SAIT leadership, provides consulting and direction-setting services to our Student Affairs partners regarding technology, innovation, process improvements, and more. The Director of Strategic Initiatives serves as the first point of contact for an questions that begin with "Could we...", "What if...", or "Who should we ask about..." as well as the lead on overall strategic management of the Student Affairs technology portfolio. Student Technology Support

SAIT offers responsive tech support for all devices from smartphones to laptops. Our Student Technology Services team provides free drop-in helpdesk support on campus and online, assisting students with internet connectivity, software installation, malware removal, iClicker issues, printing resources, data security, and legal services for media usage.

Additionally, SAIT ensures universal access to necessary technology for students through initiatives like the Student Technology Equity Program.

Student Leadership Opportunities

SAIT is one of the largest employers of student workers on campus with over 65 student workers on-site to support the technology needs of students and divisional staff.

SAIT also supports the growth and refinement of student employee positions throughout the larger IT community on campus.

In addition, SAIT guides and supports the Student Technology Council, empowering students to advise senior IT leaders on enhancing the campus technology experience.

Student Affairs Technology Projects SAIT, in partnership with our Divisional partners, Procurement, and Berkeley IT, provides project management support for information technology projects within Student Affairs. From project ideas to formal requests and intake, to divisional prioritization and execution, SAIT’s project management team ensures transparency, communication, and collaboration.

Student Affairs Technology Procurement Requests SAIT and Student Affairs Procurement partner to manage the technology procurement process, and empower Student Affairs units with the knowledge needed to efficiently obtain the software tools and technology necessary for their staff to successfully serve the student population while ensuring contractual protections for university, staff, and student data. Student Affairs Information Security Coordination SAIT's Strategic Initiatives Director acts as the Unit Information Security Lead, responsible for monitoring and ensuring that information security activities are carried out within the Student Affairs Division. SAIT collaborates with the Information Security Office to provide information security awareness training, policy alignment analysis of prospective vendors, coordination of response to security incidents, and consultation for business continuity/disaster recovery planning. Student Affairs Systems and Network Support SAIT manages student systems for application stability and custom software development. Core infrastructure support, including system administration and networking, covers services like account provisioning and database management. SAIT provides application administration and support for technology systems and technical tools across all areas of the Student Affairs Division, from Housing and Dining to Enrollment Management to Career Engagement and the Student Union, among others.
