One IT colleagues,
Each October, UC Berkeley celebrates Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CAM) by joining other University of California locations, and organizations around the world, in highlighting the importance of cybersecurity and empowering our communities to protect themselves from cyber crime.
This year's theme is Overcoming the Human Factor, acknowledging that we all have a part to play in securing our systems and data from cyber attacks. To get started, here are three simple steps you can take to protect yourself and the campus:
- Play your part to protect data
All Berkeley data is assigned a “Protection Level” - even emails and Google docs! That’s because the information kept within has value. Learn about how to securely store and protect your data
- Be cyber smart
Stay updated on the latest best practices in cyber security. Develop safe habits for everything you do electronically, secure your devices, and continue learning about topics that pose a serious threat like phishing scams and identity theft.
- Sign up for FREE LastPass Premium
Get your free LastPass Premium account. UC Berkeley offers faculty, staff, and students a free LastPass Premium account. This tool manages all your passwords and syncs across all your devices.
We encourage you to visit our Cybersecurity Awareness Month page for our resources, including simple online safety habits and steps you can take. We all have a responsibility to play our part in securing our interconnected world.
