Tracy is a graduate of Stanford University, holds a Master of Arts from the University of San Francisco, and is a candidate for a Master of Business Administration from Boston University. Before joining UC Berkeley, Tracy was Vice President of Information Services & Technology and Chief Data Officer at Boston University (BU). During her 14 years at BU, Tracy had an impressive list of accomplishments, including designing and implementing IT governance; developing a highly successful “buy-in” research computing model; expanding wireless infrastructure to blanket the campus; upgrading all centrally managed classrooms to baseline technology standards; developing the university’s technology strategic plans; leading the implementation of an Academic Data Warehouse; and replacing a wide array of legacy institutional information systems, including finance, HR, advancement, and student information systems.

Tracy is an active volunteer in national higher education IT leadership through EDUCAUSE and has worked over the years to build the profession, with a focus on providing opportunities for women and IT professionals from traditionally underrepresented communities. While serving on EDUCAUSE’s Leadership Development and Nominating committees, Tracy worked to diversify the pool of candidates considered for Board service and implemented a data-driven approach for equitable consideration of candidates.

As CIO Tracy will oversee the university's IT strategy, infrastructure, and services, working closely with Berkeley IT’s executive leadership team and Berkeley’s academic and administrative units to ensure the smooth functioning of our systems, support emerging technologies, and enhance our campus-wide IT capabilities.
