One IT colleagues,
Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday’s One IT Celebration Picnic. Over 200 staff members and retirees came out to celebrate, and I can’t begin to describe how amazing it felt to see everyone in-person after spending so much time apart these past few years! This picnic was a big “thank you” for everyone’s hard work and dedication as we’ve stayed flexible and agile to support campus through the pandemic.
Seeing colleagues again who have retired since Dec. 2019 was really heartwarming and a great reunion to finally get to come together and pay tribute to their many contributions to UC Berkeley. It was also so fun to see people I have never met in person who have been hired during the pandemic. I heard so many people exclaiming how awesome it was to see people outside of the “Zoom box.”
It was also fantastic to see such a wide range of One IT departments represented, including Facilities Services IT; Research, Administration & Compliance IT; Haas, Law and Engineering IT; Library IT; RTL; UDAR; along with lots of colleagues from bIT and many more! We had a wonderful time reconnecting, honoring our retirees, and enjoying fun in the sun on a beautiful day with the Faculty Club Glade as such an intimate and welcoming location for us to gather.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped to plan and execute this event: Margarita Zeglin, Rita Rosenthal, Clarissa Fermin, Jeané Blunt, and Summer Scanlon. Their efforts made it a memorable celebration. We received so much positive feedback, we might just make this an annual tradition!
