IT Accessibility Policy Advisory Committee (ITAPAC)

Charge

The UCOP Information Technology Accessibility Policy (ITAP) “seeks to deploy information technology that has been designed, developed, or procured to be accessible to people with disabilities, including those who use assistive technologies.” The Chancellor at each UC location is to designate an individual and/or entity to develop and oversee the program and coordinate with systemwide IT accessibility initiatives. 

Chancellor Christ has assigned the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost (EVCP) office to provide executive oversight of this work, with the support of the ITAP Advisory Committee (ITAPAC). Gabriel Gonzalez, Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for IT and Chief Information Officer, and Ella Callow, ADA/Section 504 Compliance Officer and Director of the Office for Disability Access & Compliance, will co-chair the ITAPAC. The committee will represent a broad range of functional areas and be able to address academic, research, and administrative concerns and needs. The committee is charged with:

“Advising EVCP Hermalin by developing an IT accessibility program [referred to at UC Berkeley as the Digital Accessibility Program] strategic implementation document, supervising the IT program itself (which comprises those units with some ability to ensure IT access for disabled people), and enforcing the ITAP.”
