They will directly email the owners of the files impacted by this update (some of you may be included) with more specifics. We expect approximately 1/3rd of our Google users to receive one of these messages. Unfortunately, Google has not given us the ability to get a list of the users who own the affected files.

IT Colleagues and Campus Partners,
As we prepare to ramp up technical support for instruction at the beginning of fall semester, we are implementing our customary IT change freeze on production changes for UC Berkeley systems. This freeze enables us to provide optimal IT service and systems performance for our campus and minimize potential disruptions during this peak period of activity when our services are in greater demand.

UC Berkeley remains an active target for ransomware attacks, especially due to our highly visible research activities. Everyday our systems detect dozens of attempted ransomware attacks directed at campus. Your devices and personnel are especially at risk from cyber-criminals looking to profit through ransomware. We wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of this threat, encourage you to review our ransomware resources, and to take advantage of our support and services.
