One IT Colleagues,

As we move into fall we reflect on recent productive changes the campus has gone through, progress the One IT community has made implementing the ReIT Strategic Plan, and the work ahead of us as we near the end of 2018. This month’s digest shares some major milestones on tactics, the development of the Diversity and Inclusion strategy, and a great way for you to share successes about your project.

UC IT Blog

Every new cyber-attack or scam seems to be accompanied by a barrage of cybersecurity tips, pointers, dos and don’ts that we’re expected to follow to keep ourselves and our families safe and secure. While sometimes specific tips and awareness messages are important, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and tune it all out.

To our campus community,

We are implementing some necessary updates to our Wi-Fi network that will require some action on your part. On Oct. 2, 2018 at 7 a.m., the Airbears2 and eduroam wireless networks will be updated with a new certificate. After this update is complete, devices attempting to connect to either wireless network will be presented with a message similar to one of the three examples shown below (message will vary based on the device and operating system you are using):

IT Colleagues,

In the spirit of continuous improvement, we are introducing a new dashboard where you can see, at-a-glance, the status of the various Berkeley IT systems: from Wi-Fi to Cal Central, bCourses to BFS (Berkeley Financial System) and beyond.

Enhancements for the new system status page include an interactive, user-friendly dashboard making it more visually appealing and easier to read. The page was designed with our campus community in mind and color-coded to quickly scan:

IT Colleagues and Campus Partners,

The beginning of the semester is a peak period of activity for the campus, which results in increased demand for our services and impacts our IT systems and infrastructure. To provide optimal IT service and systems performance for our campus and minimize potential disruptions, we are implementing our customary IT systems freeze on production changes for UC Berkeley student systems to prepare for the start of fall semester 2018.

Hi everyone!

We do not have a lot of updates but wanted to keep everyone in the loop with what we have since the last message went out.  The due date for information from all directors was last Friday and we are reaching out to close the gaps to make sure OCIO and the Move Committee have the complete information from all our departments.
