I volunteered at the second annual Student Tech Experience Event for Fall 2024, hosted by Campus IT Experience (CITE) on Sept. 25, 2024. The aim? To raise awareness of technology offerings to students, and to gather students’ feedback about their technology needs.
CITE Student Tech Experience & Survey
The event was held on a cloudy Wednesday morning in Dwinelle Plaza. I volunteered along with the CITE team, Berkeley IT, Student Affairs IT, the Information Security Office (ISO), Student Tech Services, Research, Teaching, and Learning (RTL), Student Leadership Program, and Campus Applications & Data (CAD). There were many wheels to spin, surveys to answer, and freebies to win! Long lines wrapped around Dwinelle Plaza for a chance of free Cal merch, cookies, and a random drawing entry for an iPad. This effort to raise student awareness about campus resources, and get feedback, proved incredibly successful. The Student Technology Experience Survey received 813 responses in 2024, a 44% increase from last year’s survey. The student feedback was incredibly helpful and provided insight into how the on-campus tech experience can be improved for students. In taking the survey, I was surprised to learn of some campus resources for the first time - despite being a student since 2022. As a student myself, I appreciate the care, consideration, and hard work of the Berkeley IT community to make our college experience all the more enjoyable!
