To our campus community,
As we enter the winter break, please be advised that the holidays are prime time for phishing and other cyber attacks. To help protect the campus community, Berkeley IT is strengthening our phishing filters. Please be alert to phishes that slip through our net and don’t take the bait!
Visit our phish tank for examples of known attacks, and report suspicious emails by:
- Opening the message
- To the right of the “Reply” arrow, select “More” (typically denoted with three vertical dots)
- Then choose “Report phishing”
If you cannot log into bMail, forward the message to phishing@berkeley.edu
Be safe out there and remember: phishing attempts can also occur via text, phone calls, or on social media.

Allison Henry, Chief Information Security Officer
This message was sent campus-wide to all students, faculty, staff, and unit/departmental leadership. If you are a manager who supervises UC Berkeley employees without email access, please circulate this information to all.
