Dear One IT Colleagues and Unit Information Security Leads,
The Berkeley IT Information Security Office (ISO) invites your comments on revisions proposed to the Minimum Security Standards for Electronic Information (MSSEI) by Sept. 30, 2023. The MSSEI defines minimum security standards for all UC Berkeley institutional information and IT resources. This update incorporates elements from UC’s systemwide Electronic Information Security Policy, IS-3, and brings the standard into alignment with current industry best practices.
As key stakeholders and partners, we wanted to send you the proposed update to get your reactions and feedback prior to sharing it with the broader campus community. We hope you will take this early opportunity to let us know about any areas of major concern or impact so we can work to address them.
Please keep in mind that the updated requirements have been prioritized to support an iterative approach to compliance, with the initial target for compliance with “high” priority requirements being a year after campus governance approval of the update.
Please Review the MSSEI Revisions by Sept. 30
We encourage you to take this opportunity to share your views during this early comment period, which will end on Sept. 30, 2023
