To our campus community,
We are pleased to announce that the Mac Berkeley Desktop environment has been successfully upgraded to macOS Ventura.
What's new for the Mac Berkeley Desktop with Ventura?
-
New and improved Self Service Offer to upgrade your Mac to Ventura is now available in the Self Service portal. You can find Self Service Offers by going to “/Applications/Self Service.app” on a Mac Berkeley Desktop device.
-
Privacy control pre-approvals for Zoom, BeyondTrust Remote Support (Bomgar), and Slack.
-
Self Service Offer to Enable Location services on your Mac, so that your time and date will automatically update if you're traveling.
Do you connect to a file share server over the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol on your Mac?
Apple has confirmed that there is a known bug in Ventura that may cause connectivity issues when using files from a file share server over SMB. Berkeley IT has been working with Apple to potentially get a fix built into a future macOS update. In the meantime, there is a workaround to modify the default SMB settings on your Mac.
Please use the new Self Service Offer "SMB File Share Fix for Ventura" to easily apply the workaround to your Mac.
