What We Do

The Technology Program and Governance unit partners with the CIO, Berkeley IT leaders, and the campus community to advance UC Berkeley’s IT strategy by aligning projects and programs with governance, policy, and strategic goals. The team drives large-scale technology initiatives, enhances and develops processes for effective project portfolio management and delivery, and ensures resource stewardship and best practices to benefit the campus community.

Key Functions & Services

IT Governance

Robin Pappas is the IT Governance Program Manager who collaborates with stakeholders and IT partners to envision and implement planning and prioritization processes that ensure IT investments are aligned to and advance the missions and strategy of UC Berkeley. Key functions in this role:

  • Strategic Alignment - Ensure that IT supports University and campus strategies, initiatives, and business needs.
  • Process & Policy Oversight - Maintain structures, policies, and activities that increase the value of IT.
  • Resource Prioritization - Link IT activity to campus outcomes through effective resource distribution.

IT Policy

 Jenny Bombasaro Brady is the IT Policy Program Manager leading multi-party engagement in crafting IT policy that meets institutional imperatives while protecting and reflecting UC Berkeley’s values. Key functions in this role are to support:

  • Strategic Alignment - Convene and lead campus stakeholders in authoring, revising, and rescinding campus IT policies that support University and campus strategies, initiatives, and business needs.
  • Policy and Process OversightCreate change management processes to support education and policy implementation, both UC-wide and at UC Berkeley.
  • Communications Strategy - Lead cohesive and coordinated IT policy communication and adoption strategy across IT's responsible offices.

Project & Portfolio Management

This team plans, fosters, and coordinates strategic information technology (IT) projects that serve the needs of the campus community. The TPO provides expert, certified project managers who bring together people, processes, and resources to enable successful project outcomes. The team:

  • Manages Berkeley IT projects using proven practices.
  • Manages Berkeley IT’s portfolio.
  • Assists with non-Berkeley IT projects.
  • Communicates the value of Project Management and leads a community of practice.
  • Provides advice and consulting services.
