To the campus community,
Late last week a bug in Google Drive surfaced that is erroneously flagging some Drive files (e.g. documents, spreadsheets, slides, etc.) as “inappropriate” and preventing sharing. This is an issue affecting some Google accounts and has been reported at other Google institutions as well. Google has acknowledged the bug and we are in contact with them as they continue to investigate the issue to understand the breadth of impact and the root cause.
Here is a sample of the error message:
If you receive any error messages flagging your documents as “inappropriate” please report the issue:
- Faculty, staff, and student employees - please contact IT Client Services
- All other students - support is available in-person, by phone, or via email fromStudent Technology Services
We will continue to inform you as we learn more, and also post updates to the System Status page
We appreciate your patience as we work with Google to rectify this issue.
Regards,
Jenn Stringer, Associate Vice Chancellor for IT and Chief Information Officer
Wes Johnson, Executive Director of Campus IT Experience
