DOC Activation Levels

IT Disaster Recovery activation levels define the scale of response required, ranging from minimal recovery efforts for minor disruptions to full-scale activation involving comprehensive system restoration and operational recovery in the event of a major disaster.

Full Activation

  • Along with the affected service unit in DOC Operations, the Service Owner, DOC Planning, and DOC Logistics & Finance will be involved at this activation level and support the DOC Manager.
  • The DOC Manager will work with the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Events and Crisis Management Team (ECMT).
  • Most directions will come from the EOC and will be relayed to the DOC by the DOC Manager.

Partial Activation

  • Along with the affected service unit in DOC Operations and the Service Owner, DOC Planning will actively support DOC Operations and the Service Owner.
  • The DOC Manager will activate the DOC and will notify the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
  • Most directions will come from the DOC manager, informed by DOC Operations.

Standby

  • DOC Operations monitors for emerging threats and potential risks of failure or outages.
  • The affected service unit in DOC Operations will notify their Service Owner and support leads of their potential involvement in this activation.
  • AVC-IT and Berkeley IT Executive Directors discuss updates and developments.
  • Most directions will come from the DOC Manager, informed by DOC Operations.
