One IT colleagues,

Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday’s One IT Celebration Picnic. Over 200 staff members and retirees came out to celebrate, and I can’t begin to describe how amazing it felt to see everyone in-person after spending so much time apart these past few years! This picnic was a big “thank you” for everyone’s hard work and dedication as we’ve stayed flexible and agile to support campus through the pandemic.

Hello One IT community,

Starting Aug. 1, 2022, anyone who wishes to use Adobe Creative Cloud will need to request a new license, valid for one year. On Aug. 14, 2022, the access period will end for all licenses that were generated before Aug. 1, 2022. In order to best support instruction and the daily work of our campus community, Berkeley IT is assessing Adobe software usage to better understand the demand for Adobe Creative Cloud.

What is changing?

Dear Berkeley IT colleagues,

On June 21st, 2022, the bConnected on-premises SMTP service (bCOP) will be transitioning from contracted management to management by UC Berkeley. We do not anticipate any interruption of service, but want to make you aware of the change. The IP address will be changing, but the DNS will remain the same. Please make sure your customers are connecting to bCOP via DNS rather than IP address.

As a reminder, the use of bCOP must meet one of the following minimum requirements:

To our campus community,

We are pleased to announce the approval of the new campus-wide information security Roles and Responsibilities Policy. This policy outlines your responsibility in protecting the campus's data and systems. Everyone has a role — maybe even more than one — based on your relationship with the University. Our world today is computing-intensive and power-hungry. At UC Berkeley, as more and more academic and research activity requires computing, aging power transmission and computing facilities are strained to the breaking point. This reality was the impetus for embarking on a multi-year project to rethink the outdated data center and cloud services model and create a roadmap that would be scalable and remain flexible into the future. Several milestones have been hit on the Data Center and Cloud Services Strategy Roadmap project.
