Message updated on Sept. 8 as support options and number of devices connecting to Wi-Fi have changed.

To our campus community,

Despite our best efforts to stabilize the network for a smooth start of the semester, our monitoring of campus Wi-Fi has shown challenges in connecting during the peak times between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

When classes returned to in-person instruction in the fall of 2021, there were a multitude of challenges faced by campus staff who support students, instructors, and the overall classroom experience. The number of students who needed captioning services to participate in class had grown exponentially while the resources to expand these services remained uncertain. These are the pivotal moments when collaboration between teams and innovative ideas can lead to positive solutions for everyone involved.

To our campus community,

As we begin the academic year, we want to provide you with an update on our network and Wi-Fi. We are thrilled that, as of July 1, we are now fully funded to continue this critical work. However, we are playing catch-up after years of underfunding. While the work to fully optimize our network will take time, we want to make the return to campus as smooth as possible. To help in this effort, we have increased our support for the fall.

If you have network or Wi-Fi issues at the start of the semester:

IT Colleagues and Campus Partners,

As we prepare to ramp up technical support for instruction at the beginning of fall semester, we are implementing our customary IT change freeze on production changes for UC Berkeley systems. This freeze enables us to provide optimal IT service and systems performance for our campus and minimize potential disruptions during this peak period of activity when our services are in greater demand.

One IT colleagues,

Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday’s One IT Celebration Picnic. Over 200 staff members and retirees came out to celebrate, and I can’t begin to describe how amazing it felt to see everyone in-person after spending so much time apart these past few years! This picnic was a big “thank you” for everyone’s hard work and dedication as we’ve stayed flexible and agile to support campus through the pandemic.

Hello One IT community,

Starting Aug. 1, 2022, anyone who wishes to use Adobe Creative Cloud will need to request a new license, valid for one year. On Aug. 14, 2022, the access period will end for all licenses that were generated before Aug. 1, 2022.
