We are excited to announce that our bi-monthly CIO Open Forum has been rebranded as the “One IT Forum.” The forum will continue to serve as a space for connecting with our peers and will now include presentations from faculty members sharing research and teaching insights enabled by technology, as well as presentations from service providers across One IT, highlighting their work to the community.

On Aug. 5, 2024, NASA announced the collaboration with UC Berkeley to bring the Savio Research Computing Cluster to Moffett Field, expanding beyond Earl Warren Hall. This significant partnership between Research IT and Berkeley IT is a result of several years of hard work and we are thrilled to share the arrival of this major milestone. As Berkeley Research CTO Ken Lutz noted, “Berkeley must offer advanced capabilities and capacity to researchers. Our teams meet every week to coordinate the onboarding of new faculty equipment.

As we prepare to ramp up technical support for instruction during the summer sessions final exam period and the beginning of the fall semester, we are implementing our customary IT change freezes on production changes for UC Berkeley systems. These freezes enable us to provide optimal IT service and systems performance for our campus and minimize potential disruptions during peak periods of academic activity when our services are in greater demand.
The BayAreaCISO ORBIE Awards honor chief information security officers (CISOs) who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership, and this year two University of California CISOs are finalists!
