Advanced Desktop Support

Student Affairs Information Technology (SAIT) works in close coordination with Campus Shared Services (CSS) IT to provide desktop, laptop, printer and mobile device support to departments in the Division of Student Affairs for University approved devices. This includes support and training for the standard operation of PCs, Macs, and standard peripheral devices such as monitors, mice, and other computer-related devices. SAIT will attempt to resolve an incident for any device, however some non-standard device incidents may not be able to be resolved by SAIT.

Device Security (BigFix)

BigFix (formerly called TEM) is the endpoint management system leveraged centrally by EEI and locally by departmental IT partners to improve the security posture of the UC Berkeley network, help simplify systems lifecycle management, provide machine inventory for data driven decisions, and reduce common IT tasks for overall time savings.

Device Support

For facuty and staff needing assistance with setting up a new device, installing hardware, having printer issues, or other technical troubleshooting, we are here to help. Students can get technical support by calling or visiting the Helpdesk online or in-person during office hours held at Moffit Library and at each residence hall's Academic Center.

Instructional Equipment Checkout

Instructional Equipment Checkout provides instructors additional technology beyond the standard equipment in General Assignment and department classrooms across UC Berkeley. If you are assigned to a general assignment or department classroom and you need additional technology, ETS can help. We provide equipment checkout to supplement the standard General Assignment technology and provide solutions for other rooms that might require display (AV) or other technology.

Student Tech Support

Student Affairs IT (SAIT) provides full-service tech support for undergraduate and graduate students free of charge. Students can bring their devices and questions to the Student Tech Helpdesk, with locations at Moffitt Library (4th Floor entrance) and in each residence hall unit. All locations are open to UC Berkeley undergraduate and graduate students.

The Berkeley Desktop

The Berkeley Desktop provides a reliable, secure, and integrated computing environment that reduces the amount of time faculty and staff spend maintaining their UC Berkeley-owned computers. The Berkeley Desktop will configure a desktop or laptop computer with its operating system and standard software. A Berkeley Desktop configured computer provides a standard environment combined with automated maintenance which means you:
  • See fewer problems;
  • Have more security to defend against cyber attacks;
  • Are able to get help faster; and,
